Last week, we sent a student teacher on her way. Without going into details, everyone at the school had had enough. Besides, she was finished with her solo teaching. While I would never hire her, she'll graduate this weekend
even though she hasn't taken the test in order for her to be certified.
Because she has to have the last word, she has been telling all kinds of stories about the teachers at my school. While most of them aren't likely true, I am concerned about one thing she reported. And it could be true. And I can't ignore it.
DAMNNIT!
All this to distract from her faults. All this for me to contend with
which is probably going to make me want to drink the whole box 'o wine tonight.
This afternoon, I have to go meet with the Deans of Education.
Should I introduce myself as the Beth of Education for my school? Am I the only one who thinks the title "Dean" sounds silly? Why do I feel like I'm going to be in trouble?

Thinking good thoughts for you dear, Beth. You *are* the Beth of Education. I hate this political messy ego-based stuff of adults at schools.
I like closing my classroom doors and just hanging out (sometimes teaching, lol) with my students.
Hang in there. Happy Mother's Day. Not sure if I will be around much - my laptop died.
Movie - I can always count on you to say exactly what I need to hear. I hope you know how much I appreciate that. Happy Mother's Day to you, too. I hope your laptop can be revived.
i hate it when people of little credibility are right!
you'll be fine. somehow i have a feeling even a dorky titled administrator is no match for you.
I don't envy you that is for sure. Good luck and stick to your convictions. Hugs and a box of wine...
So sorry you have this facing you today, what with all the other stuff on your plate for May!
Wouldn't it be nice if politics could stay on The Hill and out of classrooms... and everywhere else for that matter!
Have a happy Mother's Day and try to relax (you might to invest in more wine boxes for the latter).
Jane
You have every right to feel like screaming. I hope your meeting goes well and that your able to say what you need to say. If it wasn't before 7 am and I didn't have to go to work soon, I would drink a glass of wine for you...lol. Happy Mothers Day!
Remember all of the things that you do RIGHT! Everybody has moments of imperfection, so don't be too ready to apologize - stand with your head held high, you are a GOOD principal!!!
Scream, yell, scream again! Get it out of your system before you meet with those bozos! What a bunch of crock, this is why I could never be a teacher or work at the school. You'd have to duct tape my mouth ;).
Sending hugs with a huge dollop of determination! You can do it, afterward, go home, relax, drink wine and let the family pamper you. Happy Mother's Day to one very deserving mom!
P.S. I want to see a photo of the chinchilla.
Holy cow, woman - once again, I must say I could not do your job. EVER.
Have a Happy Mother's Day, dear. And let us know what happens.
(((Beth)))
What a crappy, crappy situation! I hope that they believe all of you, experienced teachers, over her. I'm sure it will be OK.
Good luck Beth. I hope everything works out for the best.
I say have a glass of wine. Sounds like you could use it.
good luck!
I'll be sending good thoughts your way! And I bet she will look like a fool. You have way more credibilty than she does! Keep the faith!
I agree, you are the "Beth of Education." I'm glad you can see the motivation behind her bad mouthing. Wish all administrators were more like you.
Happy Mother's Day ; -)
oh Man! I'm so sorry! That sucks. Plus, it will all distracting thinking about their title...and if one of them were NAMED Dean, you'd be all giggly..and that wouldn't go over well.....
Sending my prayers your way - and if you want, even some dirt. I gots some spare laying around here. Just say the word. Then you'd be talking to the dirty deans...
I know everything will work out. It's obvious from your blog that you care about your job, the teachers & the students.
They probably want to give you a raise!
Ugh, it's like being sent to the principal's office. Oh, wait...
