Can we all just pause for a moment of silence?

Earlier this week, my laptop, Horatio, headed to that place in the sky. For weeks, he had not been feeling well and I simply turned up the volume on the TV remote to drown out his whining.

After all, he just had a bad case of the stripes. Who needs to see the entire screen? It was just a minor inconvenience and I begged Horatio to put on his big boy panties toughen up and get with the program.

Today, the Fed Ex man will take Horatio's coffin to the HP headquarters. They claim there are some life saving procedures that can still be performed.

I'm trying to remain hopeful. For Horatio's sake.

And I'm trying to bond with my son's old laptop, Agatha. She is rather bitchy and likes to turn the screen to a blood and saliva shade of pink. Getting old ain't for sissies and she is still hanging on despite having lost a button or two. Her hinges are loose and she often falls down.

Still, I'll treat her with the respect she deserves in her golden years.

(Please bear with me as I try to navigate the blogging world with this archaic machine.)

How old is your HP? Mine is only 9 mos old and the hard drive was replaced earlier this month... the turnaround was pretty fast, though.

So sorry for your issue with Horatio. I hope that HP can revive him and bring him home soon.

Even in the golden years all people really want is to feel appreciated. Good luck with Agatha. As for Horatio, I will say a little prayer and hope the case of the stripes isn't his demises.

Have a great weekend! :)

Yeah, Old Hubert's getting along too. I'll soon be casting him aside, and upgrading to Sven, if I'm lucky.

Just had to replace Martha, so named because she was cantankerous has hell, and now am the not so proud owner of a new HP myself. Of course, I'm spending the rest of my life getting everything re-loaded onto it's skinny ass!

Good luck navigating Agatha.

Left you something at my place; please come by to pick up.

Popor Horatio. I hope he recovers and doesn't turn into a flesh eating zombie.

I think we all will be joining you in mourning, ringing little funeral bells and singing sad and mournful hymns about stripey screens and hard-drive failures.

I will hope for the best, but as a Mac user I can't say I'm surprised by the temperamental nature of your laptops.

Computer issues are no fun. I hope you get your baby back soon, and in prime working condition.

My Dell laptop sparks when I plug it in. The guy in India told me yesterday that this is normal. Alrighty Then! I'll just go on sparking away...do you think they'll reimburse me if my house ignites???

Here I go making it all about me...Hope you get your HP Back in tip top shape or as close to that as is possible

Not an excuse to get a new one? Sometimes, "oops I dropped it!" works....

They just don't make them the way they used to. No. They make them to break down so we keep on buying new ones.

I'm holding my breath that my archiac computer doesn't give me any trouble. The funds are too low for a new one right now.
Hope Horatio has a speedy recovery :).

I'll keep poor Horatio in my thoughts. I hope he comes back bigger and brighter than ever!

So sorry for your loss. I understand. My computer died two days ago. Just bought a new MacBook and second son was able to restore what was on the old IBook. Everything works. And no kids allowed on it to junk it up (except the son who fixed it.) Best of luck getting yours back soon.

Hey, ya'll! Thanks for all the well wishes for Horatio. The word is that he'll make a full recovery in another week or so.

I'm laughing at all the Mac suggestions (and I do love a Mac) because old Agatha IS a Mac. And she is hanging on beautifully despite her old and ragged appearance.

I've been working with my husband (catering) and now it is time for me to get caught up on all your blogs. You guys have been busy!

Maybe it's because you kept telling him to put on his PANTIES. He was so offended he decided to give up just to spite you for telling him to put on his PANTIES. Unless Horatio was in to that sort of thing?

Oh no, the whining! Is that the beginning? I think I hear it now. UGH! Good luck and best wishes with Agatha.

I think the character list is new on the side?? It's very helpful.

Sorry about the computer. I think you probably saw my post about my apple :-( I have it back, but the darn thing is a little slower.

Love that you named your computers. Very creative!!!

Thanks for your kind and meaningful words on my blog. It's been a rather rough weekend. C'est l'amour.

Either they're NOT building computers to last or we're using them so damn much they wear out way too quickly. We have four computers in the house (2 laptops / 2 PCs) , and all but the brand new laptop have been giving us trouble.
