Last night, two of my students, Jane and Tarzan, spent the night with us. They belong to my friend who has stage 4 ovarian cancer. She has an early, early doctor appointment in another town.
It has been interesting having the TV on the Disney channel again. Who the heck are the Wiggles?
This morning as I was picking out clothes for the adventures we are having today, this was the conversation that took place.
Jane: "We have some of those Canine Carryouts, too."
Me: "Yeah? Is that a toy?"
Jane: "Noooo. They are dog treats. You have some on the counter for your dog."
Me: "Oh. I didn't realize they were called that."
Jane: "Well, ours are exactly like yours. Except ours are bacon flavored."
Tarzan (playing on the computer): "They are delicious!"
Me (looking at Jane for clarification because surely he only heard the bacon part of this conversation): "Huh?"
Jane (nodding her head): "Yeah. He eats them. About three a day."
It is going to be an AWESOME day!

OMG...that's a riot! But all I can say is...ewwww!
Hope you have a great day!
Hugz,
Michele
ROFLMAO!
Yeah, that's a male for you.
My son ate dog food for the bettter part of his second year of life. He's still alive.
My friend used a cat bowl for cereal!!! She said thank you for leaving the bowl out for me. Really she should have known better - I would never be helpful.
Hey, hey, hey! If they are good enough for Robert Culp (Greatest American Hero), they will not kill your children! Read the labels. Dog treats contain things like corn meal, flour, cheese ... you know: food! No, really, as ucky as it sounds, they are O.K.
Those two do sound like a hoot, though. Have a great day!
I guess if the treats haven't killed the dog, they're fine for the kids - LOL!
Ewwwww! Such a boy!
When my son was about 3, he bit (yes, bit) our friends rottweiler... just to make sure the two knew who was in charge I guess! No one was hurt (I however, was a wreck!) and they did become great friends in the end. He was a very responsibly, well-trained dog. My boy? Not so much. ;o)
I always suspected that my older daughter, who loved to pretend to be a dog, was sneaking milkbones when I wasn't looking...
Have fun! Hope your friend gets some good news today.
First, I am sorry about your friend.
And second, I feel I must admit that as a child I once ate about 4 pieces of dog jerky before my mom told me that it was not people food. And in the interest of full disclosure, I considered eating more. That shit was good!
Hopefully they have protein in them!
Yes, my nephew and great nephew and even my brother. Always try the dog treats out...make sure they are suitable for the dog.. WTF!!!
Big (((hugs))) to your friend having to deal with ovarian cancer. With 2 lil ones I am sure that is hard enough on her. Prayers being said right now and will continue!
Gag!
That's too damn funny. Our boys are on a big kick about not being dogs because they don't eat dog food. This clearly blurs that line.
I just wanted to say I too am sorry about your friend and how wonderful of you to take of her kids for her.
Sorry about your friend. It must be bittersweet for you to be enjoying her lovely and funny children...
I am sorry about your friend. How nice of you to take your friends children. It sounds like they feel pretty comfortable with you and how nice of them to give you blog material.
That is too funny! Send 'em to my house after dinner and they can take a shower with my cat. :)

Sorry for the deleting last comment, my keyboard isn't working right!
Anyway, at least you know that Tarzan isn't a picky eater.
WOW! Kids will eat the weirdest things. I wonder if mom knows? I will pray for her and her family.. they need it!
As I recall, dog biscuits were delicious even in the 1950's.
Yes, the best things you can do for your famiy friends is be super practical in the food/children dept.
I bet they have fun with you.
It won't hurt them. My brother was raised on Milk bones. He loved them.
i've been tempted myself...they smell awesome!
Hilarious!! There must be something to it, because I can't keep Claire out of the dog food!! Everytime I turn around that girl is making a beeline for the dog bowl, and half the time she's crawling around with a kibble in her mouth. Yeesh!
Oh, and when I said "hilarious" I didn't mean about your friend. That part is tragic. Sorry if I came across like a jerk.
Did he fight with Ms. Poppy? Hope your friend is ok!!
In humor, What did your school do for Easter?(I know elementary does that kond of stuff. Jr. High and HS don't).
Will you do the interview on my blog?
Hey, I was told I ate dirt as a kid, what could be more gross than that!? Who knows what the hell was IN the dirt, probably more dangerous than a few doggie treats.
Sorry to hear about your friend Beth and you're a great friend for taking her kids for the day.
Happy Easter!
Jane
oh, i am sure you can't take notes fast enough with little ones in the house!
you're a good friend... those little ones' mom is lucky to have you. hope it was only good news at the dr.
I'd laugh at that kid.....but I sent my son and his wife some wonderful dog biscuits from Cheryl at Blueberry buttons. I sent them because my dogs love them so much. I called and asked if he got them...and he says...Yes and Optimus loves them too! In fact he says...I thought they tasted pretty darn good! And he's an ADULT!
So sorry to hear about your friend, hope the doc gave her encouraging news.
What a hilarious story! I'm sure it won't be the last!
As a child, my sister dared me to eat Doggie Donuts, so I did and they tasted really good. Not sure if the dog tasted them.
Hopefully, the weather will warm up down there for this holiday weekend!
Thanks to all for the kind comments and well wishes to my friend. I will pass them on to her. She really didn't hear much from her doctor other than her white blood cell count was too low for chemo this week. She is rescheduled to go back next week. Through it all, she has remained very positive and optimistic.
Between keeping the kids and having the gi-normous Passover Seder, I am pooped out! I'll get caught up soon.
