If at first you don’t succeed, failure might be an option

After the week from H-E-double hockey sticks a really rough week (thanks for being such a great ear, Movie!), I knew I had to do something to get my mind off of some of the chaos (the unbloggable chaos, that is).  I discovered a new favorite drink - the cucumber martini.  And with cucumbers in it, it counts as both a beverage AND a vegetable!  How awesome!cucumber martini

After two servings of vegetables, Mr. Strong and I went to a funky hamburger dive.  I ordered a hamburger different from any burger I’d ever had.

peanut butter hamburgerIf you think that stuff under the bacon looks like PEANUT BUTTER, then you are super observant!  What is not to like?!  Hamburgers and peanut butter are two of my most favorite foods but it does make me wonder what the inventor of this burger was smoking.  And BACON makes everything better!  It was an awesome hamburger and I’m working hard to find it in me to forgive my oldest child for eating the half I brought home for later.  Surely, the combination of peanut butter (protein!) and hamburger (more protein!) with bacon (even more protein!) will help me improve my running skills.

It must have been the combination of two vegetable drinks along with a freakishly delicious burger that encouraged me to go ahead and do something I’ve been trying to talk myself out of thinking about.

I finally signed up to torture myself run in the Disney Princess Half Marathon!

princess half marathon

Now I really need to get serious with my running because I don’t want to be the last princess to cross the finish line.  Also, I need to get focused on eating healthy.

By the way, does anyone know where they might serve Peanut Butter Burgers for breakfast in Orlando?

Woohoo!! It's official!! We will be running the Princess 1/2 together!! I'm soooooooooooo excited!!!

Have you seen the cute training shirts they are selling? I want the one with Mickey on it.

okay...you have my FULL and undying support for your marathon. I don't even care if you finish, but I know you will because I do no like quitters. (what?? I'm just saying)

HOWEVER, WTF?! Peanut butter?? now NORMALLY i would never judge (ahahaha) but whaaa??

Did you just contaminate your bacon? I think you can do time for that?? (unless it was canadian, then that doesn't count.)

Peanut butter on a burger? That's just wrong. There's a place in our town that serves peanut butter pizza, and it's just disgusting.

I mean, I love peanut butter as much as the next guy (unless, of course, the next guy has a peanut allergy, in which case I like it more), but it just can't be glooped around all willy-nilly.

With a bit of careful planning you could cover your five-a-day by putting vegetables in your coffee.

Wow, impressive. The running, that is.

I tried to run this summer and my body did not like it. It likes walking, biking and sometimes hiking...

Peanutbutter? Really? I don't think I could do that unless it were a chocolate burger.

Good luck w/ the kidlets (and the parentlets) today, and I'm here to listen anytime.

I didn't know that working in the education field totally destroys your sense of taste? Do you like anchovy pancakes??? LMAO!

Chief - I really was! It tasted kind of like peanut chicken but with a burger in the place of the chicken.

Hit 40 - But we gotta fight gravity! I'm fighting against bat wings and jiggle arse!

Brian - The burger really is good! My son didn't even hesitate to try it. I guess I've made him try random things one to many times.

K13 - Yay! We can both be slogging along in the back. I'm thinking of designing a tee for the race. We might need to collaborate on that one. I'll go look at the training tees.

Michel - You HAVE to try it! That burger was SO good!

Chris - I used to feel the same way about raw fish on rice. But then I tried it, and man oh man! That peanut butter burger won't be for everyone - but it is darn good.

mo - I like the way you think!

Movie - I'm not sure everyone would classify my run as a run. It is more like a slog (slow jog). Thanks for being a good ear!

Otin - Anchovy pancakes? Hmmmmmm....

I think I saw that sandwich on a tv show once. Glad it's as good as they said it would be!

The cucumber martini sounds awesome. The peanut butter bacon burger not so much.

You're inspiring to be running the 1/2. Good luck in your training.

A bacon peanut butter hamburger...

The idea has merit. Oh, yes, indeedy.

I'm so impressed with all your marathon-i-ness. I often think about running...then i laugh at myself.

I know that nobody wants to tell you the ugly truth. . . but I think you may have gone insane. . .

What, with the cucumbers, the peanut butter, the running. . . INSANE!!!

OK - I've been wanting a pb burger for awhile - but now you've got me craving a cucumber martini...mmm...that sounds good!
So excited for you - the Disney 1/2?!?! Wow - have fun! I look forward to hearing (at least a bit) about your training!

They should call it 'Coronary on a Bun'.

YAY!!!! So i'm totally going to meet you now. Perhaps we can go out in search of these veggie drinks you speak of??

Also someone just told me about hamburgers and peanut butter today. I'm all over it! Next time I have a burger i'm so adding PB.

We're in training...we can take the extra calories!

Jules - It really was surprisingly good. Trust me.

The Peach Tart - I'm inspiring?! You are too nice!

Jan - I've only been running for 4 1/2 months now. Or slogging, as it were.

Mom on Spin - I kind of had that feeling!

sAm - Try them BOTH! Although, personally, I recommend a beer with the burger.

A Free Man - You are probably right.

Optimistic Pessimist - Definitely on for the veggie drinks. And eating like this is probably why I haven't lost one pound while running. But I DO eat well!

hanburgers and peanut butter?! I JUST WENT TO HEAVEN.

What a shocking combination for a burger! I'd have to try it just to see what it tastes like but without any expectations. Sigh, alas, doubt I'd even find one in Podunk NC; at least your Podunk GA has variety.

I'm sitting here (I sit better than I run) wondering if I'm willing to trade in my extra mayonnaise for peanut butter......or would it WORK!?

Head on down to Hernando (a 2 hour drive) and we'll find out together.

I'm intrigued by the peanut butter burger. What else did it have on it?

PB on a burger! Who knew? Cucumbers in a drink? You sure know how to get your veg and protein in :)

Cristin said...

Peanut Butter may be my favorite food.. and I do like a good burger (chicked burger for the non red meat eater that i am)... but the combo? Can't imagine that is any kind of good... unless perhaps I were smoking the same stuff the inventor of the burger was smoking.

JennyMac said...

PB burger? Non.

Cucumber martini...Absolutely.

Running, wonderful for all the good reasons. Peanut butter hamburger? It sounds absurd, but then...

ooh, a princess marathon... I have the princess part... but definitely not the rest... hehe... best of luck!!

I'm all about the protein, but p-butter and bacon? That's just wrong.

I don't know about that burger but you're going to do great at that half marathon. If you can run, just think how much better, faster, and more graceful you'll be after sprinkling the pixie dust.

that burger looks positively hazardous on so many levels. I commend you for taking on a 1/2 marathon though!!
