After much anticipation and worry, the governor of Georgia has finally made the announcement. There will be three more furlough days for educators on top of the three we’ve already had. And I can count! Three plus three equals six! No need to question my credentials.
Still, I’m thankful I have my a job. And now, I’m officially broke.
We got a new student a couple of weeks ago. Mr. Smiley is adorable. And very busy. And incredibly below grade level. Yes, you can be below grade level in Kindergarten. Mr. Smiley smiles all. the. time. Even whilst crying in the sugar seat in my office after threatening to hit a girl on the butt.
I think I love him. And the teacher is now calling him my boy. Should I let my husband know?
Finally, the weather gods remembered that we live in the deep south and slowly thawed the freeze we’ve been under for the past three weeks. Morning duty will become enjoyable again. Though I still have my eye on you, Mrs. Pissed at the World. And you better never try to drive off while kids are still getting out of cars. Cuz I’m itching to ban you and your crappy attitude from the campus. Forever.
And while morning car duty is fun, it doesn’t hold a candle to afternoon car duty. Buh bye! Have a great long weekend! I am so out of here!

We wave to our school buses full of kids every afternoon to see the kids off. I don't know why this is done, but it's cute and the kids look out the windows and wave back to all of us goofy grownups.
If they could hear what we're saying as we're smiling and waving...
Have a nice long weekend, Beth.
Wow you have only had three days up till now? I think I love Mr Smiley too just from your description. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Enjoy the thaw and the temp climb.
Mr. Smiley sounds adorable. Enjoy your long weekend!
I want to hit a girl in the butt, but it is more of a request than a threat! LMAO!!!
What is up with mother nature? Last week during that freeze, Green Bay was warmer than Jacksonville!! What gives? It's just plain crazy.
Enjoy your car duty.
its actually supposed to hit 50 here today...ah, warmth. every morning when i put my boy on the bus, i do a little dance for all the kiddos. change it each day just for fun. they all mash to one side and the bis driver just chuckles. now kids i dont know introduce me to their parents at PTA as the crazy dancing man. but i love it.
Ugggg, furloughs.
Awww Mr. Smily...gotta love kids like that.
Poor Mister Smiley, sounds like he's got a long road ahead of him. He's lucky he gets to sit in your office!
We had an amazing principal when my son was that age. And it made all the difference!
Okay, your story about waving goodbye to the kids at the end of the day reminds me of a funny story. I'm gonna post it over on my blog.
Happy long weekend, Beth!
Enjoy your time off.
Mr. Smiley sounds adorable minus that whole butt smacking thing.
Oh damn, no school on Monday?
F*#$%^&*)!!!!
Gotta love a kid who smiles all the time. Go Mr. Smiley!
Mr Smiley prolly knows something we don't know. Sorry to hear about the "furlough days". What a stoopid thing to call a budget crunch...
we have morning and aftrenoon car duty. The weather makes a huge difference on my mood! We have no buses so we get 200 cars in and out in 15 minutes. With their kids!
sigh
Mr. Smiley sounds wonderful!
mr. smiley sounds too cute
Mr. Smiley, what way to be remembered as a little guy :).
Sorry about the furloughs. Your photos are fabulous.
Yeah, well, my favorite parent, Mr. "I'll park in your staff lot if I want to", who had moved out of our district six months ago has RETURNED.
Lyin' bastard.
6 furlough days oh that is terrible but yes I guess we should be thankful we have jobs.
I am impressed you do both morning and afternoon carpool duty!!!
Our principal had to ban a dad from coming to our school because he got mad..gunned his car and somehow hurt one of our teacher assistants who is now in a sling!!
I was wondering if you could answer a question for me..we have a new principal (less than a year) and we thought things were going to be different with this one but most of our teachers and teacher assistants are not happy and I think she thinks everyone is ok...does anyone ever tell a principal that her staff is Not happy?
