The southern God of flowers (azaleas) are in full bloom. And the colors are breathtakingly beautiful.
All over town, the azaleas and dogwoods are beckoning the birds and the bees. But spring in the south is brief.
Soon all those blooms will be gone and the azaleas will be just another green bush. That needs to be trimmed.
While working in the yard this weekend, I noticed a LOT of gold dust. Every place I stepped became a miniature dust storm.
Pine pollen! It seems a cruel fate for the pine pollen to roll out just when the weather is beginning to be kinder.
This pollen covers everything. Our town is covered in a yellow blanket. My car is barely recognizable.
And have I mentioned my pollen allergies? I sound like Peter Brady when his voice was changing. Really the only difference is I dress better.
And how does a short dog react to pine pollen? Why, she sniffs as much of the stuff up as she can. She seems to LOVE it! Snort, sniff, lick, lick.
If she didn't have a gimpy back, I swear she'd be humping the pine trees.
Does Betty Ford have a rehab unit for dogs?

Wow...
Don't be shocked if your dog starts begging for chips and queso.
;-)
I have very, very minor pollen allergies, but they can be a killer!
lord, get her a metal spoon and a lighter.
we must be a few weeks behind you. our forsythia is just now getting yellow.
OMG! That last pic is HILARIOUS!! Look on the bright side, at least she is snorting it all up so you don't have to.....
The azaleas look beautiful, and so does blue sky through southern pine. I feel warmer just looking!
OMG, seriously hilarious! You take the best pictures.
Lovely shots. I like the one with the azelas and the silver reeds fuzzy in the background.
Azaleas are one my favorites. Beautiful, welcome to Spring.
You are funny. I am sorry for the allergies. I get the same way. It sucks.
Great photos!
One of the few things I enjoy about living up here in Podunk is that Spring is very long. Even if it will be a month before I see our azaleas.
I wish our Scooter would just sniff pollen - he's spent the recent warm period rolling in the poopy of any and every animal he can find...no intervention needed, but we're both tired of doggy baths.
Love the last pic!
Feel with you about pollen, of any sort. The only good thing I can say about it is that it covers my 14 year old car and that's about the only time of the year it really looks good!
Ah, the pollen blanket. That's one thing I don't miss about Virginia.
That last picture is hilarious!!!! I spent a year living in Mississippi and I agree, the azaleas were gorgeous!!! So was the wisteria. I do miss the South sometimes.
LOL I think your dog is the Kate Moss of the canine world...snorting all that stuff up! I'm jealous of your springy world with flowers in bloom....we're just lucky here that some of the ice melted.
Ms. Poopy is the cutest dog in the blogosphere, you should bring her to see the Redwoods she would pass out.
I love azaleas. Alas it's too warm for them here but my dad has them 200 miles north of here. Love 'em. If you discover the canine version of Betty Ford, let me know. My dog has a hambone crack addiction.
