What I love about Sunday morning

My mother would tell you there is something wrong with my wiring.  I can’t sleep late.  I have vivid memories of my mother showing me what the clock had to look like before I woke her on the weekends.  My husband has had the same conversation with me.

Most Sunday mornings, I run my long run for the week.  Today, I decided to savor the morning and run later in the day. Besides, it is COLD outside!

As I fixed my first cup of coffee, I noticed the message on the Splenda packet.

Be sweet.  Pass it on.

Just as I was sitting down to warm my hands and my soul with some some strong coffee, Miss Poopy sounded out from her crib in the bedroom.  As we stepped out into the cool morning air, the sky was beginning to light up – much like someone turning up the dimmer switch.

A harsh, “Shhh.  No barking!” warning was given to Miss Poopy.  The birds were singing as we headed back in to snuggle on the sofa.  There is something calming about how needed I am to this little dog.  Her sighs, the way she conforms her body to mine, tucking her nose under the blanket give me a sense of things being right with the world.  Breathing in her sweet dogginess and relishing this time I have alone, it dawned on me.  Sunday morning is my favorite time of the week.

Nice photo of your outdoors; it could as easily have been taken from out my front door. It is a cool morning here in central Texas (50 degrees) the coffee is making, a dogger is snuggled in behind me and a nutty cat is running wild on the patio. I see you are reading "Prodigal Summer"; it is very good. I love Kingsolver's work and just finished "Bean Tree". Enjoy your Sunday! Ciao, Lizzy

The fact that you don't have to deal with the Monday through Friday morons, may be a reason, also.

For most of my life, Sundays were my worst days. With all the healing in my life this past year Sundays are now days of peace. At last. So reading your post just added to my own pleasant morning. I could picture your walk, the rich dark coffee and the sweet dog cuddling with you. Enjoy the rest of your day.

I've always been an early bird too, just before sunrise has always been my favorite time of day. Of course, since kids, I haven't been able to enjoy those moments alone... being up before sunrise with the monsteres isn't quite the same.

I love the hour just before sunrise. It is the only time I ever get to myself...

I just finished Prodigal Summer for the second time. Love that book. Makes me want to live on a farm and grow organic veggies.

I totally agree with you! I love Sundays, especially the morning. I try to drag it out for as long as possible.

I have a little dog too and I love snuggling up with him in the morning.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Not me, I'm more of a night person. I do my best reading just before bed time. Mornings are for sleeping. At least on the weekends.

Damn work week.

Enjoy those kinds of mornings any way you can, is my motto, and I do!

I get stressed on Sunday because I never finish everything that I hoped over the weekend.

My favorite times of the week are when both boys are asleep at the same time. Blessed quiet.
