Black is the new, well, um… black

For the wedding I am attending this weekend, I’ll be wearing my little black dress.

black dress Not my dress.  But you get the idea.

Along with my fabulous sparkly black high heeled shoes.

And for fun, I’ll be sporting a new black accessory.

black eye This is a fairly accurate depiction of how my eye looks.

For the record, I blame the Yankees.

***************************************************

Before anyone gets all excited and calls 1-800-Poor Gal, I need to explain how this happened.  Mr. Strong got all excited about the Yankees scoring some runs and excitedly rolled over to tell me.  In the process, his elbow connected with my eye.  Apparently, my eye is allergic to his elbow.

LOL! I'm sorry, but that's just plain funny and I know, 'cause a similar thing happened to me some years ago.

The downside is that you might get more attention than the bride! But man, I love that little black dress!

The way I see things you have 2 choices. #1 wear super dark makeup to make the other eye look the same or #2 accidentally get excited about no school while introducing your elbow to his eye. Then you could be twins!

BTW... those shoes.....KILLER :)

Well at least you will match...lol. Love little black dresses with cute shoes like that. Have fun at your wedding!

You are going to look so kick ass! BTW, I thought you were going to wear boxing gloves at first.

I agree with Jane. You'll be the talk at that wedding. Better have an alternative story to pitch.

Jane - I'm excited about getting out of town. I think my purple eye shadow will help me match up my eyes so it won't be so noticeable.

sun lover - I like the idea of being twins! I love those shoes, too! I psyched about having an occasion to wear them.

smiles4u - I'm planning on having a blast. Lots of wine. Lots of Tylenol.

Jan - My eye is just a little sore but really purple. I had no idea it would bruise like that. And it is hilarious to me, too.

Mom on Spin - He he! I know!

Christine - Maybe I should get some boxing gloves. :)

lakeviewer - We've come up with several stories. I'm sure we can have some fun with this.

Midwest Mommy - I'll have to see if I can get a picture. It looks like really heavy purple eyeshadow.

You could blacken the other eye and go goth.

Love the shoes.

That dress and those shoes would look great with the sunglasses Holly Golighlty wore in Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Agree with OMG sunglasses would be uber fashionable.

Would've been nice if they'd actually won the game. Girardi is an idiot.

I'm sure it brings out your eyes.

Sorry about your eye. I would be excited to attend any event that requires black sparkly shoes...

Well if you are going to be all in black, you should wear dark sunglasses and never take them off. You will be mysterious and eccentric and sexy.

Brian Miller said...

ooch! yeah, i may have done that before...at least it will match the outfit? err...

have a great time!

Have fun at the wedding. You'll be fashion coordinated from eye to toe.

Are your boobs big enough to keep the focus off your black eye?

Love the dress, and I adore the heels!!!

Surely nobody will notice the black eye. ;)

I'm so sorry to say this, but that was hysterical.

Oh NO! Think of it this way, you might just start a trend. All the celebs will be sportin' a baseball black eye.

Once I got a black eye by running into a door, really. My middle name is not Grace! It looked awful! I was so embarrassed and certain no one would believe the door thing so I kept wearing sunglasses everywhere.... Hope everybody believes the elbow thing....Sorry,on the bright side, at least it matches your attire... :)

talk about matching your entire ensemble! :)

Love that dress and shoes. You will look fabulous.

oMG that is funny! You know what will be even MORE funny?? If, when you're at the wedding, and Mr. Strong goes to tell you something, cringe and cover your face, then whimper "I'm sorry. I won't do it again." all scared like.....Mr. Strong will be mortified and probably buy you something to make you stop it.

Maybe another pair of those really cute shoes!!

WELL DONE!

It is worth it if it is for the Yankees! Wear it like a badge of honor!!! Sorry I am so late :(

You'll look beautiful, black eye or no. I hear black is the new...well, black.

Liz Mays said...

OUCH! You'll have a one of a kind accessory...

Kulio said...

Oh no! I had a friend who used dark eyeshadow expertly on her "other" eye, and she turned out looking dramatic and exotic instead of...bruised. Good luck!!

Wendi said...

Hope you had a fabulous time! Not everyone is SO chic that they have a black eye, too.

Ohhhh nooo! That is a shame.

Lucy Cooper knows about dermablend: I applied it to her tattoo on her wedding day.

We left you a little "tag-you're-it" award over at http://fourjugs.blogspot.com/.

Bummer. Well, You'll still look super sexy in your outfit...maybe you can hang your hair over the eye and just sort of peak out all night... ha!

I hope you're going to use that for all it's worth.

You can never go wrong with a black dress, sparkly shoes & a few accessories. It's a wardrobe staple that should be in every woman's closet.
