Two sides to every story so to speak. Good post. Envy sometimes spurs us on to make a move to better things. But if we sit on it and chew on it and hold it close like a lover, it can become more important than it really is.
that's downright deep, beth! seriously, it is something i tell myself i don't struggle with but i realize sometimes even though i may not have the actual "envious thought", i do have a negative visceral reaction towards someone or something that is probably just as destructive.
Envy is something I am constantly struggling with. I'm trying to become less of a green-eyed monster this year. The only person my envy hurts....is me.
Sure, Beth, envy is one of our primal urges. Without it, we wouldn't get off our duff and do anything. Can be a motivator of sorts.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's such a good point! Love your blog.
ReplyDeleteCan I please quote your 'Sunday 160' on my blog... you've given me an idea?
Thank you x

Amazing how much story you can tell in a "Text". Great 160. My own is up - but very late - you will have to read it to find out why.

Beth, I hope you save these. You have a gift with words and a talent for working withing monkey man's guidelines! Seriously, seriously good.
ReplyDeleteWell put, never thought of envy as a monster and certainly not as one with green eyes, but that's a great way of picturing it.
