May Day! May Day!

Last night I watched my youngest, Mr. Funny, in his Spring Jazz Concert. One girl had a flute solo and was obviously nervous about it. Once her part was over, she audibly sighed and wiped her brow.

Clearly, the worst part for her was over.

It reminded me to take a deep breath.

So far in May, I've...

Ran around at Field Day

Helped host a jewelry sale

Helped with the Relay for Life

Kicked off the March of Dimes coin drive

Ran/walked a 5K and let a 74 year old dude beat me

Helped my husband with catering

Attended a PTO Executive Board meeting

Had my final School Council meeting for the year which is really a dog and pony show I have to host 4 times a year

Attended my school's Spring Concert

Hosted lunch for my PTO Executive Board members who are leaving

Organized stuff for Teacher Appreciation Week

Hosted meet and greet for the upcoming 6th graders with the middle school

Attended a School Board Work Session

Attended a Principal's Meeting

Organized a meeting with the 5th graders and parents going on the NY Trip

Planned Enrichment class for 3rd graders on photography

Attended son's Spring Jazz Concert

I still have yet to accomplish:
Buying both son's birthday gifts

Ending the school year with a bang well, not really with a bang because that would be scary - but ending the year in a happy way

Honor's Day

Making class rolls for next year

And the list goes on and on and on

But I know in a couple more weeks, I'll be able to sigh and wipe my brow.

Until then, I'm afraid my posting and commenting may be a bit sporadic.

Maybe if I had eaten, my hands wouldn't have been shaking and the picture of Mr. Funny would have been clearer.

  1. I'm tired just reading that list. We're busy too, but not like that.
And teacher appreciate week? We got bagels yesterday. That will be the extent of it...
Try to get some sleep, Beth!

  2. My oldest has his jazz band spring concert in about 2 weeks. He has a solo! Should be excellent.

I would have to agree your year is banging to an end. Being a principal is a lot of extra time in the evening. I have about 22 more school days left. Just praying no swine flu

IN OHIO IF EVEN ONE CASE OF SWINE FLU - WE HAVE TO SHUT DOWN THE WHOLE SCHOOL 2 WEEKS!!!! I will freak out! I do not want to continue school until July.

  3. Hit 40 - We have had a couple of cases of H1N1 (the *new* name) but not in my town. I'd cry if school went until July, too. Oh, wait! I AM in school in July. DAMNNIT!

only a movie - For our teachers, we do a LOT (and I wish we could do more). We had a coffee cafe on Monday morning with donuts and juice. Yesterday, we had fruit and granola. Plus they got some Expo markers and funky paper clips. Today, they get lunch and each grade level will get an electric hole punch (love those things!), Thursday is Day of Desserts and I can't remember what gift (something from the office supply store). On Friday, they get a book (our book study book for next year) and a Leave Early pass. I wish I could give you all those things!

  7. OMG, this is way too much for me to digest before I've had my first cup of coffee. Jeez, woman, you need to slow down a bit! Can you delegate any of these type jobs that you still have to do?

Yes, you forgot to add Mother's Day to your list, but let's hope you'll be able to get pampered just a wee bit on that special day.

Mr. Funny is truly a good looking kid!

P.S. Don't forget the birthday presents.

  10. lol, Mr. Strong's comment!

Your son is super cute, is he still seeing the girl from prom? If my mom adopts you, then we would be sisters so is Mr. Funny, my adopted nephew? I never get the family tree thing.

  11. You forgot to mention the 6th grade end ceremony. Or, not. At this time, life is so tightly packed, you need to clone yourself. Happy endings.

  19. Your son is gorgeous! And now.. I am going to take a nap because your schedule is killin' me!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Holy crap...how do you manage to get anything done with that crazy schedule??

  21. I'll tell you what you should have said. . . You should have really said "no" to a few of those things.

  22. Sounds to me like someone needs a nice, beach vacation. Maybe somewhere south of where you are. I'll start making the margaritas.

  23. This time of year is really hard to find the time to do anything!

    ReplyDelete
  24. You have done all those things in SIX DAYS? I don't think I could do that much in six MONTHS. Probably why I am not a principal or boss of anybody (other than my 2 teenagers...)

  25. Oh the life of an administrator! When do you find the time to sleep and blog? It sounds like you take care of your staff and teachers at your school. I am in charge of the weeks activities at my daughters school. We gave them all candy on Monday, a sack breakfast on Tuesday, logo note paper on Wednesday, decorated cookies tomorrow and a carry in lunch on Friday. For the lunch on Friday we are having a drawing where every person will win something. (pedicure, 1hr massage, gift cards for various stores, candy, hanging flower baskets & so on) I wish we had the budget to do more, maybe next year. Just a few more weeks and you will stress free...ok maybe not stress free, but definitely parent free!!! Hang in there & happy appreciation week to you!

  28. UGH and I was feeling sorry for myself and wondering how I was going to get everything done. Sheeeesh woman you better be wearing a cape because you are SUPER WOMAN!!!
